Motorcyclists often describe a feeling of "great freedom"

For me, the fascination is, among other things, that I experience a cocktail of feelings of flying, skiing, riding and "being able to switch off" together. It has a little of everything

  1. Flying because I sometimes drive over mountain tops and suddenly a panoramic picture with a far-reaching view opens up in front of me, which strongly reminds me of a landing approach.
  2. Skiing because after a long journey through countless bends I continue to wag in bed in the evening. I also know the feeling from skiing.
  3. Riding If I sit on my gasoline horse and turn the throttle, it rushes off with me on its back in the direction I am looking - hey hops
  4. Being able to switch off because fast - safe driving requires full attention and concentration. There is then no space and no time for distracting thoughts

Infected in the military

I got infected with the biker virus while working in the military. At that time I was allowed to do the A-license that I already had and enjoyed a KRAD training. Driving up house-high hills almost vertically, with 100 things over a field, up to the waist in the water passage, with skids in the snow or only with orientation maps away from the road and path through the forest, even at night. That was pure adventure and if a KTM broke, put it on a truck and down the next :-)

The KTM 250 gl was specially equipped for the armed forces with a centrifugal clutch and semi-automatic. In winter you had your feet in the skids, you braked and switched with your hand. It took a lot of getting used to, especially off-road with automatic 8 / On cold winter days, the carburetor needle sometimes froze and the part gave full throttle. The clutch did not disengage because of the automatic centrifugal clutch and the brakes were too weak for this situation. The only solution - jump off. The KTM was then howling at full throttle where it hit and the engine could not be switched off due to spontaneous combustion. Solution: Turn off the fuel tap and wait until the magic is over - I like to remember. What a spectacle :-)

technology

I do a lot of maintenance and repairs myself, because then I can be sure that all the screws are really tight and that I know as much as possible about the technical condition of my bike. The workshop is told what I don't trust myself or what is too risky for safety reasons.

everyday life

As a city dweller, I often use my motorcycle every day and can look back on many years of positive experience. If all regulations are observed, I get to my destination noticeably faster and there are hardly any problems with parking spaces. The top priority here is an absolutely defensive driving style and "no priority" in order to keep the risk of accidents low

trips

If I feel like "sharing joy", I like to take part in joint trips as part of a leisure group or organize trips there from time to time. Sometimes I am also the "lonesome rider" or go on an enduro adventure with selected friends
